Back from New Orleans
I got back from New Orleans late Sunday night. I had a good time, but I was glad to be home. I’m definitely getting old…
The tournament went well. I placed 2nd in sparring and 3rd in forms (kata). I didn’t really feel deserving of the 3rd place finish in kata, but so life goes. I kept telling myself, “Go slow…” I didn’t. :-) During sparring for 1st and 2nd place, a guy from Auburn, John Pope, smacked me in the nose. My eyes immediately teared up and I was pretty much through at that point. I was behind anyway and let’s face it — he was simply better than me. Sparring was definitely the best time I had there. Wish I could have done more of it.
I had a fun time with Farnsworth. He was an excellent roommate. We did a lot of walking and exploring New Orleans on our off days. I love the way that he can start up a conversation with anyone. I wish I were more like that some times.
