!(floatRight)2!:1 I picked up “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”:1 at Sam’s Club on Saturday around noon. We came home and I planted my butt on the couch to start reading. I took a break for dinner and stopped for the night around 11PM. I woke up early Sunday morning and finished the book off. It’s been a long while since I read a book non-stop and it felt really good to do it.
Overall, I really liked the book. For that matter, I’ve liked all of the books in the series. I don’t have any particular favorites as each has been well done and advance the story further down the road. This volume was shorter than “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”3 which is a good thing as the previous book tended to go on a bit more than I thought it should have.
I’m not going to give any spoilers about the book as some fairly major events happen to set up the final volume (which I assume will be published in about two years.) The history of Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort is clarified quite a bit and there is major betrayal that results in the death of one of the main characters. If you’ve read or enjoyed any of the other books in the series it goes without saying that it’s worth picking up this chapter in the series.
I can’t wait until Thomas gets a little bit older so he can read the series and hopefully develop a really healthy love of reading.
