I hate all of the hysteria around “man made” global warming. I’m all for using energy from non-petroleum sources, but the environmental wackos saw fit to kill nuclear power back in the 70’s and 80’s. Solar is not a viable option due to the inefficiencies of the process. Hydro is fine, but there is only so much of it. What really kills me are the stupid “flex your power” ads lamenting that we have caused global warming airing on radio and television. The ads make claims like, “If every household in California replaced just one incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent bulb it would be like taking 400,000 cars off the road for a year.” What, a car with an old lady driving who only goes to church one block on Sundays? There is just no way that they save that much electricity.
I can see the future ads now with the new crisis of the day, “You were such an inconsiderate prick using your CFL bulbs. Now you’ve gone and given your children a future with mercury poisoning. Shame. Shame. Shame…”
Please stop the hysteria now or I’ll have to leave a large carbon footprint on your butt as I kick you out of the way…
